Plan of Salvation
There is emptiness, an overwhelming sense of hopelessness, you know deep down something is wrong and something is missing. That something is a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. It is through the Holy Bible that God reveals who He is, how much he desires an intimate relationship with humanity, the condition that hinders this relationship, and His answer for that condition in Jesus Christ. How do you enter into a relationship with God? Thanks for asking! God has provided everything we need. Let’s start by getting real about ourselves. God is God – holy, merciful, creative, grace-filled, desiring our best and our well-being, all knowing, all wise, and all powerful! God is holy other than us. We have made a mess of all God’s provisions. The law (Ten Commandments) became a measuring stick of goodness and right standing with God, instead of the instrument to reveal our deep need for Him. God’s created beauty has become something to worship, something to manipulate, or to simply enjoy instead of pointing us to its creator. Paul wrote in Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Yes! Sin is the condition that stands between us and God. We have missed the mark of God’s intentions and plans. Sin gives us a paycheck. It is called death, not just physical death, but spiritual death that alienates us from God and will last forever. Romans 6:23 tells us “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Yes there is a chasm between us and God, yet He has provided the bridge in Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 “but God shows his love for us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. We cannot save ourselves – oh how we try – from being a good person, to supporting good causes, or trying to earn our way to heaven; none of this works – The only way is through Jesus Christ. He came to earth lived, ministered, took upon himself our sin upon that cross, was buried, raised and today reigns next to His Father. He received sin’s paycheck of death for us, paid the penalty of our failure, took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us out of slavery to sin and death! Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” John 3:16says it this way, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” This possibility of eternal life, not just existence, is seen as Jesus is raised from the dead. How do you receive this wonderful gift? Believe Jesus – not just with head knowledge, but with our whole being trust Him with everything! Turn toward Him – change directions or said another way, repent “unless you repent, you will all likewise perish” Luke 13:3. Just admit where you are at and how messed up you are – confess, “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him for the dead, you will be saved….’everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’” Romans 10:9 and 13. 1 John 1:9 tells us “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Paul and Silas told a jailer about Jesus and advised, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved…”Acts 16:31. Trust Him. In Revelations Jesus is pictured knocking on the door – it is your door – the door of your heart today! Will you open to him? “Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and open the door, I will come in to him….”Revelations 3:20a. Now is the time! Will you open your heart to Him? If so you will find what you are missing, hope, promise, eternal life, love, grace, mercy, forgiveness and the One true God waiting with open arms to welcome you to His family!
